Beware of Shiny Object Syndrome

Mar 02, 2016

What do laser discs, QR codes, Intellivision and Apple’s Newton PDA have in common? They are all examples of really cool technology that failed miserably at living up to their user expectations. And unlike Betamax video players that were actually a higher quality product than their VHS competitors but failed because of poor marketing efforts, the aforementioned products just plain didn’t live up to the hype they were promised to deliver.

It’s what we call “Shiny Object Syndrome” where something sounds exciting because it’s the latest and greatest, but ultimately fails to produce any true value. New technology is always going to promise the next big thing. This isn’t to say that all new technology or “golden child” products aren’t going to provide incredible breakthroughs. The secret to success is cutting through the hype and finding what actually works, especially when and how it relates to your business or non-profit agency.

TechArk Solutions has done our homework. We continually test products, software and services that are designed to help your business run more efficiently. We know what channels are effective at generating sales and delivering quality leads. And we’ve seen what works and what doesn’t when it comes to increasing your business’ efficiency.

In other words, we can steer you clear of the hype to focus on the products and processes that will best impact your business. And if you have something in mind that doesn’t exist yet, we can help you create and implement it. Responsive web design, proprietary app development, and unique user experiences are just a few of the many services we provide, along with expert marketing consultation and best business practices implementation.

So even though the shiny new things seem like they are the answers to your sales prayers, tried and true always gets the job done in the long run. Count on TechArk solutions to deliver.
