Happy New Year!

No, wait … that’s not right. It’s that strange time of year, with Halloween knocking at our door for tricks and treats yet we know that Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are just around the corner. The holidays will be here before we know it, and then in the blink of an eye, it’ll be 2018.

We’re not saying you need to have your holiday shopping done just yet, but it may be time to start thinking about your business goals for the new year. Is your company doing good, or just ok?

While we at TechArk take care of the heavy lifting, there are always things we’ll need from the business owner (YOU). A website takes 10 – 12 weeks from start to finish, and the more involved, invested, and responsive you are, the quicker it will progress.

We’ll need information about your business, customers, goals, and brand. This knowledge informs every decision we make moving forward, from the wireframe (outline) of your website to the colors we select and the words we use. We can’t design for your brand if we aren’t familiar with it, just as we can’t speak to your audience if we don’t know who they are.

Speaking of content, that’s an optional service that we highly recommend you take advantage of. In our extensive experience, content holds up the website design process almost more than anything else. It’s not because of anyone dragging their feet – it’s just often forgotten about until the last minute … which is when folks realize what a challenge copywriting really is.

Trust your brand to the hands of our graphic designers and content strategists for a smooth and seamless project experience. We promise we’ll be gentle, and you’ll get a better result for it. Design and content should always be taken into consideration at the beginning of a project, forming a solid foundation on which the rest of the site can build. These phases of the process usually require four to five weeks, depending on the number of revisions.

Once we’ve shown you a design that you’ve loved and approved, your project moves on to development, where our programmers bring the vision to life on a screen. Because we build custom websites made to your exact specifications, this process typically takes five to six weeks.

After the site is built out it goes immediately to testing, where it lives for another week or two while our CQ engineers push the limits of the site to determine whether it is ready for launch. We’ll create a “bug sheet,” which we’ll then systematically work through until the site is performing to our standards. That’s when you finally get to see your new web baby!

So, approximately two months after our kickoff discovery meeting, you’ll be face-to-screen with your new website, providing critical feedback and additional user testing as you click around for the first time. Inevitably, you’ll find something you’d like to change and we can usually accommodate it, depending on the scope of the request.
