There are so many factors that you should consider when you’re trying to make your website rank higher by Google. A common problem is the loading speed of the page of your website.

Does page loading speed affect the rankings?
Yes, it does. Since 2010, Google has stated that the speed of the page affects the rankings. It is yet not clarified how much impact it actually has and what aspects of the website should be monitored to make the website rank higher.
According to a recent research, it is estimated that 40% of the users will leave the website if it takes more than 3 seconds to load. This does not mean that the website is not useful to the visitor, but the potential customers leave the website because they are not happy with the user experience.

How does Google measure the page load times?
Variety of sources like Google Chrome, Google Analytics, Google Toolbar data, etc. send the page / website loading speed to Google. Google identifies how fast your site loads. They also provide some suggestions to improve the page / website speed.
Google has many other factors to determine the page ranking. Though all the factors are not announced publicly, the website owners should not over-estimate the impact of page rankings on the speed of the page / website.

How to increase the page load speed?
There are several tools available that can help you measure the website load speed. You can use them and measure your website load speed.
Once you know the loading time, you should think of upgrading your server. If the website has low speed, you should upgrade the server.
You can also opt your codes like CSS/HTML/Javascript to reduce the page load times. These codes and files can be used to improve the speed of your website.
